On Saturday, December 15th, author Chris Williams spoke on the roots of the climate crisis, the solutions needed to overcome it. Chris Williams is a long-time environmental activist and the author of Ecology and Socialism: Solutions to Capitalist Ecological Crisis (Haymarket Books). He is a professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University and is chair of the science department at Packer Collegiate Institute. Amity Pate is a Boston native who is a journalist and writer living in New York City. She writes for the Amsterdam News and is a contributor to Occupying Wall Street: The Inside Story of an Action that Changed America (Hay market Books, 2011). Pate spoke about her experiences reporting in New York during the aftermath hurricane Sandy. This event was held in Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain and co-sponsored by Haymarket Books and the International Socialist Organization.
